If you've bought it or thought about buying it, Rita R. Robison has written an article on it. How to buy a cell phone, a piano, computers, organic food, emergency gear, and prescription drugs are among the more than 1,500 articles Robison has written.
Issues of interest to the Baby Boomer Nation such as planning for retirement, selecting health care providers, reducing stress, and avoiding fraud are topics she's covered.
A skilled reporter, interviewer, and writer, Robison's awards throughout her 20-year career are many. Among them are First Place for Columns from the Washington Press Association and First Place for Consumer Articles from the Eastern Washington Society of Professional Journalists.
Robison's journalism career began at The Olympia (Washington) News where she wrote a weekly consumer column and carried her to The Spokesman (Spokane, Washington) Review where she wrote consumer articles and a weekly consumer food column.
Then, she became "Bud," short for ombudsman, at The Anchorage (Alaska) Times" where she answered readers inquires for her daily consumer action column.
Robison wrote a monthly 50-plus column for The (Tacoma, Washington) News Tribune for 18 years.
Courses in consumer economics sparked Robison's interest at Washington State University and The Evergreen State College. That consumers could use their "economic dollar votes" to get what they want in the marketplace inspired Robison to take up consumer writing.
Robison has a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in public administration.
Robison loves libraries and doing research. She'll conduct all the interviews it takes to get a story. She's gotten quotes from the White House, tracked down Ralph Nader, and convinced Elizabeth Kubler Ross that she should take the time for an interview.
Robison is a member of the American Council on Consumer Interests and Society of Professional Journalists.
