It’s difficult top pick out my favorite Mother’s Day memory.
There’s the first Mother’s Day with my new, beautiful baby. And I remember how much fun it was to come home from college, more appreciative of my mom, Ruth L. Slingsby, as I was becoming a grownup.
Then, after my dad passed away and my mom was in the nursing home, each year she was here I celebrated with her with great feelings on Mother’s Day.
One time for Mother’s Day, my daughters gave me a green pepper. They were about age 5 and 7. Each received a quarter, and they scoured the grocery store for something I’d like.
Now I have grandchildren. Nothing beats getting a G-mom card. That’s when the twins were about 5 and couldn’t spell grandmother yet.
I have been truly blessed. I received good values from my mom and dad, values about helping people and my community. I was extremely lucky to get two exceptional daughters. Now I have three grandchildren. Life couldn’t get any better.
