When we had an apple ranch in the family, I gave out apples
for Halloween. Then, I switched to raisins until my daughter told me raisins
are a lame Halloween treat. Lately, I’ve been giving out stickers.
I don’t eat sugar so having a bunch of leftover candy is a big problem.
With this history, an article listing candy corn, flavored Tootsie Rolls, Smarties, gumdrops, strawberry hard candy, and bubble gum as among the worse candy you can give out caught my eye.
The Huffington Post article said they weren’t including apples, anti-Halloween pamphlets, pennies, wax lips, and boxes of raisins because they aren’t candy. And, the article said, “If you're giving those kinds of things out on Halloween, we don't want to give you any more attention.”
