I’m the host for this week’s Best of Boomer Blogs #460.
I’ve been on vacation in Sacramento for about a week, so it’s hard to get back to reality.
I visited my oldest daughter and her family and was joined by my younger daughter and her kids who live in Madrid. They come to the United States for about six weeks every summer, so we have loads of fun.
Here I am with my wonderful daughters.
One of our activities was a road trip to Santa Cruz, where we took a trip to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. These are my terrific grandchildren at the park.
I’m sad the vacation fun is over, but hopefully we’ll have more summer fun next year.
Carol Cassara at Heart-Mind-Soul is also thinking about vacations, so she offers some "must packs" for any trip and while Cassara's on the subject of travel she's asking what you'd do if you saw this at airport security.
For Laura Lee Carter of the Adventures of the New Old Farts, living in the country is rejuvenating, like being on a vacation. Carter is just finishing up the first year in her new solar, Colorado foothills home and also her memoir of two years in transition from city life to relaxing rural living. Here are a few of her thoughts on living close to nature.
Our other boomer bloggers are focusing on serious financial topics.
Tom Sightings of Sightings Over Sixty turned his attention to Social Security this week. Sightings reminds us that Social Security took a cut out of every paycheck we ever earned, and now that it's finally our turn, it's only natural that we want to get our benefits, too. He offers some advice you may not have already heard before in “Six Ways to Maximize Your Social Security” benefits.
Meryl Baer of Six Decades and Counting rarely writes about her past life in the financial world, but this week breaks her silence. In “Decoding Private Equity Enterprises” Baer considers two financial topics. She gives reasons – in her opinion – why financial documents are so obscure and difficult to understand, and briefly discusses private equity companies, an obscure financial topic to most of us, and how they impact our lives.
Enjoy these articles. And be sure to join in the conversations. Boomer bloggers love to hear from readers.
