Recall of the Week: Ryobi ¼ sheet sanders due to laceration hazard

What were your best and worst consumer experiences this week?

Which consumer happenings cheered you this week and which ones made you want to scream or weep?

Here are my best and worst consumer experiences this week:

My best: Getting two free movie tickets

Several times, I’ve written about offers from Honda and Nissan to win big prizes or "gold" coins.

Each time, I went to the dealership. After not winning the big prizes, I received one to three copper clad coins.

Recently, I received an offer from Honda for a fantastic prize or two free movie tickets. Again, when I went to the dealership, I didn’t win the super prize. However, I was happy to accept two free movie tickets.

I enjoyed "Water for Elephants," and I’m looking forward to another movie.

My worst: Being super sized when I went to a movie

When I took advantage of getting a free movie at a Regal Cinema theater, I bought popcorn. The sales associate asked me if I wanted to double the amount of popcorn for a $1 more, and I said yes.

The popcorn cost $6, up $1 from what I’ve paid in the past. So I spent $7 for a bigger bag of terrible popcorn.

Regal Cinemas super sized me – again. Although Morgan Spurlock’s "Super Size Me" was in the back of my mind, I took the bait. Spurlock wrote about eating McDonald’s food and drinks for 30 days and accepting supersizes every time it was offered.
