Look for upcoming recall of the ShoulderFlex Massager; FDA warns of possible life-threatening injuries
How to prevent injury after a disaster

Put your name, address, phone number, and address of your next-of-kin on a 3 x 5 card and place it in your left shoe

By Rita R. Robison, Consumer Specialist

It was shocking to hear emergency workers tell people who didn't heed warnings to evacuate to put personal information in their left shoe to help emergency workers if they were injured or dead.

It also was sad to learn that the first person who died from Hurricane Irene was a surfer. A preventable death.

It shows that consumers should follow the directions of state and local officials about when to evacuate.

I hope those of you who have been impacted by Hurricane Irene will be able to recover quickly and that the damage to your home and property has been minimal.

See my next post on "How to Prevent Injury After a Disaster" for details on how to stay safe during your recovery.
