Boomer Guide wins big prize at annual journalism contest

At the Washington Press Association awards ceremony Saturday in Seattle, The Survive and Thrive Boomer Guide was presented with a dozen awards for articles written during 2013.
The awards put me in the running for one of the sweepstakes prizes. I came in second, receiving one of two prizes awarded. I was presented with a beautiful plaque and a $25 check.

I usually try to take some time to evaluate my articles and ponder which articles to submit in the categories that I’m eligible for. However, this year, due to an illness in the family and the looming deadline, I quickly selected articles and sent them in.
What a surprise to be one of the sweepstakes winners. It’s really been a great day.
