Best wishes on Mother's Day
May 10, 2015
I hope your Mother's Day is going well.
My mom passed away in 2005, and I'm thinking about how much I still miss her.
The photo is of my mom, Ruth Slingsby, right, her mom on the left, Lillian Telecky, and my oldest sister Marlene Erickson in the center.
It's a tradition in our family to give the oldest daughter the middle that's her mom's name. So my mom was Ruth Lillian Telecky Slingsby and my sister is Marlene Ruth Slingsby Erickson.
My mom wasn't perfect, she worked hard at figuring out how to make the best life she and my dad could for our family.
We lived in farm houses on apple ranches in Central Washington. She read magazines on decorating and made the houses warm and inviting.
See the article, "Remembering Moms on Mother's Day," for more about my mom.
If you still have kids at home, I hope you're enjoying sharing the day. If you're a mom whose kids have left the nest, I hope you are able to see or hear from your kids today.
For those of who have lost our moms, we just have memories.
Happy Mother's Day to all.
