What to buy on Black Friday
November 23, 2015
Black Friday, possibly the largest shopping day of the year, is known for big savings and huge crowds.
The number of consumers shopping on Black Friday in 2015 may be up from last year, with 55 percent of consumers planning to look for Black Friday deals compared to 53 percent in 2014, a recent survey from Offers.com shows.
While deals are available on nearly every type of product this season, Offers.com predicts which products will be the best deals this year. Check out its recommendations on what to buy on Black Friday 2015 below:
Name-brand electronics
Black Friday usually offers deals on electronics, from laptops and tablets to cameras and headphones. This year, Best Buy, Sears, and Overstock are expected to offer the best deals on electronics. Dell has announced in a recently leaked ad scan that it will offer products at more than $500 off their retail price during their Black Friday sale.
Savings tip: Stick with brands of electronics you know and trust. Avoid electronics from obscure manufacturers.
Large appliances
Many major retailers offer their best sales of the year on large appliances including refrigerators, dishwashers, washer dryers, and stovetops. The recently released ad scan from The Home Depot promises savings of hundreds of dollars on refrigerators, stoves, and washer-dryer sets. Sears offered large appliances at a discount of up to 50 percent last Black Friday, and is expected to offer big savings this year, too.
Savings tip: Look for retailers who offer free delivery for appliance purchases during Black Friday sales.
DVDs, Blu-Ray, and CDs
Offers.com predicts that Black Friday 2015 will see the lowest prices on DVDs, Blu-Ray, and CDs in history. With the rise of movie and music streaming services such as Netflix and Spotify, consumers see DVDs, Blu-Ray, and CDs as old, dated technology. As demand for these products drops, so do their prices.
Savings tip: Classic movies and beloved albums make great stocking stuffers.
Apple Products
Offers.com predicts that the Black Friday season is among the best time to buy Apple products, from iPhones to Macbooks. This year, the biggest deals are expected to be on iPad products, including the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 2.
Savings Tip: The best deals on Apple products won’t be found at the Apple Store. Instead, it’s authorized resellers such as Best Buy and Target where you’ll find the hottest promos. Though you may not find huge discounts on the Apple product itself, resellers will often bundle these products with gift cards for $100 or more.
Black Friday may have great deals on a wide variety of products, but be sure to compare prices. The door buster may not be that good of a deal or it could be a lower quality, off brand. And, there are certain types of deals that should be avoided on this shopping holiday.
