‘Step-iT’ activity wristbands recalled by McDonald’s due to skin irritation and burns

CR003106_b03_CMYK_Simp800McDonald’s is recalling about 29 million “Step-iT” activity wristbands in the United States and about 3.6 million in Canada.

The recalled wristbands can cause skin irritation or burns to children.

McDonald’s has received more than 70 reports of problems, including seven reports of blisters, from wearing the wristbands.

The recall involves “Step-iT” activity wristbands, which come in two styles – “Activity Counter” and a motion-activated “Light-up Band.” Click here for descriptions of the two wristbands.

The wristbands were distributed only by McDonald’s restaurants nationwide from Aug. 9 to Aug. 17 with Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals.

Consumers should return the wristbands to any McDonald’s for a free replacement toy and either a yogurt tube or bag of apple slices.

For more information, call McDonald’s at 800-244-6227 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT daily, or visit and click on “Safety Recall.”
