Happy Easter
Happy Tax Day

Boomer bloggers moving forward in life

Tulip Fields 2917It’s been a good week. Friday, I mailed in my income taxes. Earlier in the week, I went with my sister to visit our older sister in Bellingham, Washington. On the way, we stopped at the Mount Vernon tulip fields. I love photographing the beautiful flowers. I try to get there every spring to enjoy the fabulous display.

Today is Easter Sunday. I’ve been thinking all day about my family, missing my Mom and Dad, and remembering our Easter traditions.

Our other boomer bloggers have had an eventful week, too.

Tom Sightings, blogging at Sightings Over Sixty, and B. have decided to buy a retirement home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Sightings has written often in the last year about living in a condominium complex while investigating what the best retirement place would be. They’ll be moving in a few weeks. Meantime, he relates how he met his neighbor and came to admire “The Old Woman.”

Laura Lee Carter of the Adventures of the New Old Farts is celebrating the supreme freedom of retirement this week, which might be her first chance to observe her true nature in action: "For the first time in my life nobody is telling me what to do. Who are you beyond all the rules and self-discipline that have filled your life thus far?"

Attempting to work with huge bureaucracies, whether public or private, may be one of the reasons people’s lives are so stressful nowadays. Cable companies, insurance companies, government agencies…the list goes on and on. Occasionally, however, people can have a good experience. Meryl Baer of Six Decades and Counting recounts her positive encounter in “A Good Government Experience…for a Change.

Can spouses be everything to one another? Carol Cassara over at Heart•Mind•Soul discusses that subject and her commenters have a lot to say about the subject, too.
