Happy Easter

Chelan Methodist Church

On this day so important to the Christian religion, my best wishes to you and your loved ones on Easter Sunday.

I hope that you have a wonderful holiday celebration and will be able to get together with family and friends. May your heart be filled with love and joy.

Today, I have so many memories of my family on Easter Sunday. In Orondo, Washington, we went to a community church there. For a while, my mom played the piano for the church services.

Then when we moved up the Columbia River for my dad to take a job as orchard manager for Beebe Orchard Co. Although it was still Orondo, the closest town was Chelan, about 6 miles up the side of a hill. We went to the Methodist Church in Chelan. I have many memories of sunrise services followed by a pancake breakfast, Easter services where they had open up a room adjacent to the sanctuary because the attendance was larger than usual, and singing the Christian hymns. For example,

Christ the Lord is ris’n today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heav’ns, and earth, reply, Alleluia!

I miss my Mom and Dad very much. Also, my kids are grown and have left home. So I’m celebrating Easter at church with my friends, remembering the past.

Have a blessed and wonderful Easter.
