What are the best sales for Labor Day this year?
August 30, 2017
If you plan to shop on Labor Day, you’re likely to find some of the best deals of the season.
Be sure to do comparison shopping. And, if you’re buying a big-ticket item such as a mattress, use your smart phone to compare prices. Many stores will match the prices of their competitors, even some on the Internet.
For what to look for, DealNews.com offers these tips:
Clothing
You can expect to see major discounts on clothing as stores try to clear out their stockrooms ahead of the new season. Last year, DealNews.com reports that one of the best clothing sales was found at Old Navy, as the store knocked an extra 50 percent off jeans, T-shirts, and dresses, including sale items. BCBG cut 50 percent off sitewide and offered free shipping.
DealNews.com expects to see a competitive sale from the clothing store Uniqlo. Its Labor Day sales have impressed for two years, and in 2016, it had a low starting price of $6 on its sale items. Shipping was free, too. Strong sales from Wilsons Leather and Jos. A. Bank are also anticipated.
Shoes
Impressive sitewide discounts at Rocket Dog, Crocs, and Clarks resulted in all-time price lows on a wide selection of men's, women's, and kids' footwear last year.
Travel
DealNews.com advises you to hold off and delay your vacation until after the holiday as it saw the best travel deals last year on Labor Day itself.
Mattresses
Although mattress purchases can be expensive, holiday sales can see those prices drop. Last year, US-Mattress had discounts of up to 60 percent off sitewide, and it accepted coupons, too. In addition, shipped was free. Big-box stores Sears and Walmart also offered top mattress sales over Labor Day.
Whether you're spending for yourself, your loved ones, or your home, you probably won't get another savings opportunity like Labor Day until Black Friday.
