Movies for Grownups awards for 2017 movies

This weekend, I saw 12 movies as part of my marathon movie watching effort to write about the 2017 movies nominated for Academy Awards. You’ll see my analysis Sunday.

Meanwhile, AARP has given out its Movies for Grownups awards already. They are:

Best Movie for Grownups: “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” 

Best actress: Annette Bening in "Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool."

Best actor: Gary Oldman in “Darkest Hour.”

Best supporting actress: Laurie Metcalf in “Lady Bird.”

Best supporting actor: Winner Richard Jenkins in “The Shape of Water.”

Best screenwriter: Aaron Sorkin for “Molly's Game.

Best intergenerational film: “The Florida Project.”

Best documentary: “I Am Not Your Negro.”

Best director: Guillermo del Toro for “The Shape of Water.”

Best ensemble: “Get Out.”

Best grownup love story: “The Greatest Showman.”

Best time capsule: “Dunkirk.”

Reader's choice: "Wonder Woman."

Helen Mirren also received a career achievement award.
