Happy Mother’s Day
May 09, 2021
Today, I was fortunate to get to talk to my daughters and my granddaughter via WhatsApp. I love modern technology. With daughters in Sacramento and Madrid, one could get pretty darn lonesome, especially during a pandemic.
It’s nice to be able to do some visiting now that people are getting vaccinated. I celebrated my birthday with a few friends. Also, a friend came over today, and we had a nice visit on Mother’s Day.
So, to moms everywhere, happy Mother’s Day.
I miss my mom, Ruth L. Slingsby, so much. She was a good kid, as she used to tell us when we were adults to let us how much she loved us. She gave me a high regard for education, which served me well as I moved through various institutions of higher education and careers. Thanks, mom.
In addition, to moms everywhere during the pandemic, I wish you the best. These are such trying times. So many women are juggling helping kids with virtual learning and working at home. And millions of women have had to leave the workforce.
I hope things are better for us all soon, with the pandemic coming to an end. However, we still need to be careful because so much is unknown about covid-19.
