Happy Father’s Day
June 20, 2021
It’s a nice day here in the Seattle area, so that’s good for people having picnics or barbecues on Father’s Day.
If you’re having lunch or dinner out, I hope you find a restaurant that works well for you as the pandemic continues to wind down.
What did you get your dad for a Father’s Day present?
Did you avoid the gifts on this list of what not to buy dad? I agree with most of them. However, I don’t agree that “world’s best dad’s items” are bad gifts. I really liked giving my dad a world’s best dad cup. He liked getting it, and I enjoy seeing it every day in my cupboard and remembering my dad now that he’s gone.
I’ve been thinking about my dad, Minor H. Slingsby, today. I wrote an article about him. He was a stern man, but he and my mom taught me good values.
The photo of my dad taken in 1939. He was 29.
My dad died in 1990 at age 80 from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a lymphatic system cancer. Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is linked to pesticide exposure. My dad was a farmer.
I miss my dad. I wish he could have been with us longer.
