What to buy and not buy in June

Father-and Child Holding Hands at the Beach 822550_960_720It’s summer and people are having vacation fun – swimming, picnicking, hiking, traveling, wine tasting, and more.

While shopping may not be high on many people’s lists, they should take some time to investigate the sales. There are lots of deals in June – you just need to know what to look for.

Check out this guide for the best buys of June from DealNews.com:

Father’s Day gifts

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19. Look for sales on sports items, gift baskets, restaurant gift card, and tools. You also could find hundreds off on tech items such as computers and televisions. Clothing and shoes as well as gear for the great outdoors also are being highly discounted.

PC games

Steam and GOG are expected to have big sales.

Spring clothing

If your wardrobe needs refreshing, be ready to shop spring clearance clothing in June. With summer in full swing, the previous season’s items will see deep discounts.

Lingerie

Victoria’s Secret has a summer semi-annual sale that often happens during June. Discounts are usually around 50 percent off. Watch for other lingerie retailers to have their own sales, too.

Workout apparel

With people gearing up for vacations, they’re trying to get into shape and be “beach ready.” Look for tank tops for as little as $9, shorts as low as $12, leggings for $17, and active tops from $15.

Free fishing

Some states offer free fishing days for National Fishing and Boating Week.

Dinnerware and cookware

Retailers often have special deals this month because summer is the height of wedding season. In addition to these items making popular wedding gifts, you also can upgrade your current sets, if needed.

What to skip in June

Summer clothing

Independence Day sales in July will offer summer clothing items, but there will be even more at the end of the season in August and September, when retailers start trying to clear the shelves to make room for fall apparel.

Laptops

There will be some good deals on laptops around July 4, plus Back to School season in July and August will have some good deals. And Black Friday is still one of the best times to shop for laptops.

Amazon devices

Prime Day is planned for July this year, and Amazon is likely to offer great deals on its own devices during the event. Outside of that, Black Friday usually has some of the best deals of the year.

Mattresses

With Presidents’ Day and Memorial Day sales in the rearview mirror, the next best opportunities to find mattress deals will be during 4th of July sales, Labor Day events, and Black Friday.

Thanks, I'll have to plan for Prime day in July. In Florida, we just had a tax-free holiday for hurricane supplies. It's an annual event here.

Rita

Jennifer, it looks like you're ready for upcoming sales. I hope you find some good bargains.

Laurie Stone

Thanks Rita. Can't believe its Father's Day already! Will have to check out the sales.

Carol Cassara

I love having seasonal sale info!

Rebecca Forstadt Olkowski

All good to know. Why spend unwisely when you don't have to?

Rita

Yes, in these days of inflation and stagflation, it's even more important to compare prices all the time, including the sales. And, it's good information to know what might be a deal this month.
