Best Buy recalls more than 287,000 Insignia air fryers due to possible injuries from overheating

Best Buy is recalling more than 287,000 Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens due to reports of the units overheating. When overheating, the air fryers handles can melt or break posing fire and burn hazards. In addition, if the air fryer ovens overheat, the glass on the door can shatter, posing fire, burn, and laceration hazards.
About 187,400 of the recalled units were sold in the United States and nearly 100,000 in Canada.
This recall involves Insignia air fryers and Insignia air fryer ovens with the model numbers NS-AF34D2, NS-AF5DSS2, NS-AF5MSS2, NS-AF8DBD2, NS-AF10DBK2, and NS-AF10DSS2.
The air fryers and air fryer ovens have cooking chamber sizes ranging from about 3.4 to 10 quarts, and plastic or plastic and stainless-steel bodies in black and stainless-steel finishes.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens, the company and U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advise. They should visit https://www.recallrtr.com/airfryer for information on how to submit photos of the recalled unit(s), the model number, and receipt. Directions also are given on how to destroy the unit.
Consumers will receive a refund check with a receipt or Best Buy store credit if no receipt is provided.
