Bloggers consider life’s twists and turns

IMG_6631When I attended Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, during the 1960s, I took a class in consumer economics. It changed my life.

I had gotten the idea from my dad about the importance of spending wisely, now here was a field of study and maybe a career in helping people make smart money choices.

I worked for five newspapers in the West and did consumer articles for most of them. My favorite was working for The Anchorage Times writing the “Tell It to Bud” column. Bud was short for ombudsman and I answered readers’ questions, most of them on their consumer problems.

Over the weekend, I went to a reunion at WSU. What fun, what memories. That’s Butch, WSU’s mascot cougar with me in the photo. Go Cougs.

Meanwhile, my blogging friends also are contemplating life’s challenges and different paths.

Still, there are things Laurie Stone, blogging at Laurie Stone Writes, has learned at this age that came along in no other decade, little specks of wisdom she wouldn’t trade for anything. Here are the top six …
