1. Look for bargains at after Christmas and white goods sales in January. In addition, you may find deals on small appliances, fitness equipment, gym memberships, beauty items, TVs, winter clothing, and laptops. Skip mattresses, major appliances, jewelry, snow gear, luggage, and spring clothing this month.
 
2. Check out this list of groceries that may go up in price in 2025including coffee, garlic, beef, canola oil, and seafood.
 
3. Conduct an in-depth analysis of your personal finances on an annual basis using this eight-step guide, which includes evaluate your financial goals; analyze, or create, your budget; look at your debt numbers; assess your retirement numbers; analyze your emergency fund; and evaluate insurance performance.
 
4. Plan for increased energy bills this year following a 3 percent increase for most energy bills in 2024.
 
5. Check out these steps for canceling subscriptions you no longer need.
 
6. Take action to get the most out of gift cards by reclaiming balances and keeping them top of mind. About 43 percent of Americans have an unused card with an average of $244 per person.
 
7. Take a look at these reasons to shop at Walmart, even if you hate Walmart, including organic groceries, more premium brands, free shipping, and cheaper gas.
 
8. Review this list of 10 fitness apps to see if one of them will work for you.
 
9. Check out this list of places to visit where the dollar is strong including Chile, Hungary, Argentina, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, and Peru.
 
10. Take a look at these five ways to save on your phone costs when traveling abroad including talk to your provider before you travel, use temporary data passes, swap your SIM card, and use Wi-Fi and certain phone settings instead of data.
